I ordered more fabrics from my favorite local fabric sellers again in May. Unfortunately, when they came through the door, I hardly had time to go through them. Today, I took some time to get them out of the bags to breathe some fresh air and of course, to take the pictures.

They are little trickier to handle, compared to 100% cotton, but easier (and cheaper!) than 100% linen. They are almost impossible to find locally and I would buy in bulk from the U.S. when we do a shopping spree online :p

Besides the usual work and family matters, we took off for a short get-away at Cameron Highlands and KL in Malaysia for about a week. It was a great road trip with friends and it felt like an extended playdate for our kids!

A couple of weeks ago, I had a few quick finishes. I remember being really happy, working on these projects. Because I got bust some Japanese fabrics that I was in danger of hoarding and also trying my 1st bias binding, and my virgin attempt at crafting with the baby strap hardware.

I remember spending quite a bit of $ on ugly binky straps and general straps to tether items near Benji when he was little. So, I whipped up a couple of straps for Baby L that not only function as binky straps, but also as the tether strap for the stroller blankie.

Our work loft is a little messy right now… With all the recent buys and also new projects, it is a little hard to keep things neat and tidy.

I started on a new project a couple of days back (yes, yet another queen-sized quilt) and so far, I’ve made quite a good progress (by my standards!). During the process, I took my time to cut some blocks, sew some, iron some, square up some… relishing  each stage of production (read: I get bored easily). So, there are many mini piles of blocks/patches in various states of WIP scattered all over the sewing area and it was tricky moving the blocks/patches from the sewing machine to the ironing board, etc. And today at Daiso, I found the perfect helper!

These trays are like tubs without lids, and yet I’m able to stack them up. PERFECT. The little lids/catches at the sides are not very strong and I doubt they will hold much weight or many trays, but these trays are soooo handy and just what I need to get the little blocks organised for the sewing table/cutting/iron boards.

At SGD$2 a tray, it is really a good buy!

Another quilt DONE DONE.

The Tales and Tidings quilt is one of my ‘oldest’ project. I bought it AGES ago and it took me a while before I found the ‘inspiration’ (read: procrastinated long enough) to cut it up.

The top was completed in Aug’08 and I put it away, and went shopping for the backing fabrics. After I ordered it, I put it away some more and agonised over the quilting. I finally sent it off to a quilty friend who did the quilting for me late ‘09 and I’m soooo happy with what she did with it.

I'm 3 and I get a new shirt!

Big man turned 3 in Feb and I did not get round to taking a picture of him in his birthday shirt till recently. :S

The birthday shirts are really handy. Benji’s kindda big for his age and the shirt has been great giving people a hint of how old (or young) he really is. Saves me from answering the ‘age-old’ question from kay-poh aunties from the supermarkets :p

My parents are away for a short break, and I have Benji all to ourselves for a week. That means playing tag-team with Hubby to care and play with Benji and checking in on work. It’s rough because of the dreary weather and the car’s in the garage being fixed. We have been in-doors since Tuesday and have gone through too many episodes of Fireman Sam and also re-reading Spot books.

Today, the thunderstorm is not helping matters. He barely laid down for 30 mins and was woken up by the ’scary booms’. Sigh…

This week, I have not been sewing as much as I wanted to as I’ve been feeling under the weather as well. After the babe’s in bed at night, I’ve been SHOPPING A LOT and spending time with the Kindle. And dreaming up new quilts and crafts

This my SECOND Kindle. The 1st one was delivered to me all bashed up and this one came in the nick of time before our trip to Japan in February. I absolutely LOVE this Kindle sleeve, bought from Sakizome - a local Etsian. Definitely one of my best buys EVER from an online store.

The whole family was taking turns catching the cold/flu/sinus bugs. I had no bandwidth to craft, sew, or take any photos. The only thing that kept me sane was the occasional sale and convos from the Etsy shop. Hopefully, I’ll have more to share in Nov!

This Halloween, we were invited to a friend’s place for dinner and trick & treating around their neighborhood. The weather was DREARY. It rained and rained and stormed some more. But after dinner, the rain let up some and we brought the kids out for some spooky fun!

Talk about last minute ‘inspiration’, I whipped up this outfit from 12-1am Friday night. I don’t have any solid black fabric for the zig zag and had to make-do by using the reverse of a black fabric that has some grey swirls on the front. I used Therm O Web’s Strong No Sew fusible webbing and ironed the zig zag straight unto the T-shirt. Not a stitch sewn!

Forward looking: I ordered a WHOLE bunch of delicious baker’s twine (in various colours!) for the holiday season and I’ve been prepping them for a secret project. More about that later!

I have a LOOOOONG list of to-sew items: from baggies for Benji lug his toys around to stock for the shoppe. With that list in hand, I went on an online fabric spree!

Yards and yards of BEAUTIFUL fabrics were delivered to our door step throughout September. Some fabrics are still in their packing boxes because I ran out of space to store them! Feeling ‘inspired’, I sewed up more crayon wallets for the shoppe. Now, I have done my share of wallet-sewing, and its on to the quilt-y projects! yaay!

It has been a busy busy busy few weeks for everyone here. I’m not going to go into the nitty gritty of things, but it involved work, family, babies and a lot of hair pulling.

I had put off working on the Mish Mash Moo quilt for a while when my head was filled with work, stress and worry. Once the dark clouds cleared, I put the quilt on the Bernina and spent hours happily sewing away. It was so nice, working on this special quilt, thinking nice thoughts of the new owner

Anyway, this post has NO pictures of the quilt - as I’ve self-imposed a no-photo ban of it till the quilt is pictured with the babe ;>

So…. here’s a picture of a custom Crayon wallet order, made with the Zoo fabrics that I’ve been dying to turn into a wallet for a long long time.

I made more Zoo wallets to list in my Etsy Store. One sold, Three more left!
